So I guess the intern at BravoBay gets to welcome strangers to the headquarters now? Are we literally stealing a page from the NBC page program? I guess so….
Fine. Hi. Welcome. Have you ever wanted to spend more time with the characters from your favorite books? Have you ever wondered what the BravoBay offices are like? Now you can do both with a BravoBay HQ Tour. What is it? It’s a full 3D game you play free in your browser, and as of this week the doors are open. You log in and you get a backstage pass to the sausage factory. That’s what I call it. But, like, if you’ve read a BravoBay story, you’ll run into some familiar faces. If you haven’t, that’s fine, too. Just try not to break anything.
Itineraries? We don’t need no stinkin’ itiner— oh we actually have one. Okay. You land on the roof and talk to the most important person at the company: Me! Yada yada I give you the spiel and show you to the elevator and from there you can explore any place you want. The Labs, the Hangar and the Visitor Lounge… just have fun.

Points of interest? Sure. In the Hangar, Alex Caldwyn’s ship The Oryx is parked from “Historians Proper”, with the H2X from “Battle Tides” right beside her. The Visitor Lounge has an adorable statue of David Acuff, age 12. Way before he got old.
Then there’s the Mustang from the “Fourth Ward”, some neat gallery art, and maybe even Moose & Peanut will stop by the coffee stand (Space Pirates are suckers for Pumpkin Spice Lattes). You can meet Arnold, our CFO, running around making sure we don’t go over budget. “The Edge” Screening Wall is running the book’s trailer and EPK, and Kit Ryder’s Archives are open for snooping. And Kit looks tough but she won’t bite. You should talk to her.
That reminds me some quick HR talking points: some things at our office WILL bite. You’ve been warned. Also, in the highly unlikely event of another Containment Breach, just make your way back to the rooftop transport. Easy peasy. It’s the only way, so don’t miss it.
You’ll pick up passport stamps along the way, and at the end you get a certificate with your score and credentials. It plays best on desktop with a keyboard and mouse.
See you on the roof. Sloane Vega, Intern & Tour Guide |

BEHIND THE SCENES · BRAVOBAY BITS NO. 003 From an Idea to a Playable Home Base Arnold and Sloane take you behind the scenes of how BravoBay HQ went from an idea to a tour you can play. Watch Bits No. 003 → |
Beta thanksA big thank-you and Sumo hugs to our beta testers, who boarded early, ran from things, fell off things, and told us about it. Arnold landed the drop ship, the team worked through your notes, and HQ is better for it. |
From the Bookshelf Find the bookshelf in HQ and you can read Chapter 1 of Battle Tides, Slay Bells Ring, Historians Proper, A Kingdom without a King, and Occupied, right there in the game. And if you saw The Edge trailer on the Screening Wall and want the rest of the story, here’s some news: The Edge: Skyberian Edition, Vol. 1 launched in October and is now an AMAZON BEST-SELLER. Readers grabbed more than 1,300 copies over launch weekend, and it hit #1 in all three of its Kindle Teen & Young Adult categories: Dystopian, Action & Adventure, and Apocalyptic & Post-Apocalyptic. Read the launch post → Start with the tour. Stay for the books. |
November Is for NovelistsNaNoWriMo! November is National Novel-writing month. For years, writers everywhere have taken on the same wild challenge: 50,000 words in 30 days. While the organization that started it closed its doors in 2025, the spirit remains. Writers still pick it up on their own. “The Edge” began as one of those NaNoWriMo challenges. But when I hit 50,000 words by day 30 I realized I was barely out of Act 1. That’s when I knew this was going to be a long book. It landed closer to 150,000 words. Called it. “Battle Tides” took me three different NaNoWriMo’s to finish a first draft. “Slay Bells Ring”? I decided to do a NaNoWriMo in August. The magic isn’t the month. It’s the challenge. And the deadline. So if a story has been knocking around in your head, this is your month, or pick your own. Doing it this year? Hit reply and tell me about your latest project. See you at the office! — David |

WRITER’S TIP: Don’t fix it yetNaNoWriMo starts today, so here’s the best first-draft advice we’ve read this year. It comes from November J. Brown of Writes of November, who wrote it while she was over 50K words into her own draft: “I’m learning the difference between ‘I know this needs fixing’ vs. ‘This needs fixing NOW.'” Her list of things she refuses to fix in a first draft: crutch words (the “look” she uses nine billion times a chapter), plot holes (“if I stop what I’m writing every time one pops up, I will literally NEVER get to the end of my novel”), placeholders like [write description here], and the first chapter. You can’t know the best opening until you’ve typed “The End.” Keep your momentum. Fix it in draft two. More from November J. Brown at writesofnovember.com |
IN THE WORKS ScruffyTV This Fall, a new animated series from David Acuff is ScruffyTV. Scruffy the dog is a legend in his own mind, cushioned from reality by his BFF Dave. When their tiny YouthTube dogcast starts climbing the charts, they’ll need a host of underlings willing to tank their own dreams to keep ScruffyTV afloat. |
